Camp themes – Ages 2 to 7

Take a look at our bi-weekly themes. All themes include Art, Outdoors, and Mindfulness in some way!

July 5th – July 14th  Laughing Yoga & Happiness: How does a lion laugh? Have you ever had a chuckle milkshake? Laughing Yoga creates positive synergy around easy-to-do yoga poses. It also boosts your immune system! This week, we’ll explore different breathing techniques through laughter and partake in nature-based happiness discussions!

July 17 – July 28 The colorful Matisse (collages): This week we’ll use our fav book “How the Snail Found its Colors: The Art of Matisse” by Jeong-Yi Kee to draw inspiration from. We’ll build individual colleges, and a large community collage, with objects found in nature and other various materials.

July 31 – Aug 11 The Art & Science of Cooking, Mindfully: Cooking can be exhilarating and creative! We’ll get in touch with the five senses while learning the math and science that cooking entails. Our list of recipes includes playdough, ice cream, and apple doughnuts to name a few! We’ll also learn how to eat mindfully, enjoy the textures, and create a heightened sense of awareness.

Aug 14 – 25 Photography & light exploration: Children will explore spatial awareness through light, shadows, and photography. Using art in various mediums, we’ll work on capturing light with gross and fine motor activities. Tools this week include a canon rebel, colorful cellophane sheets, acrylic mirrors, and more.

Hours: 8 AM – 4:30 PM Extended hours available (7:45am-6pm)

Trips will occur throughout the summer and will include visits to various places in the city. Trip locations are TBD. 2022 trips included various events at piers around the city, mini-golf, new playgrounds w/ sand/water features, museums, Central/Riverside Parks, etc.

With Art-based play, the child is in control but takes hints from teachers. We will combine classic and creative art tools with natural outdoor materials, giving children a sense of discovery and empowerment. Each day is filled with mindfulness/yoga, art, and outdoor exploration!

Students leave with an awareness of their body, thoughts, feelings, and the world around them. This year we are including bi-weekly trips around our neighborhood & city. These trips incorporate the Reggio-Emilia approach to being a good citizen and neighbor.
